Dry
Needling
Targeted relief for chronic muscle pain & trigger points
Reset Your Muscles. Eliminate Knots.
Dry needling is an evidence-based technique where fine acupuncture needles are inserted directly into myofascial trigger points โ tight, painful nodules within muscle fibres. The mechanical stimulus causes a local twitch response, releasing the knot, reducing pain, and restoring normal muscle function rapidly.
Conditions We Treat
Dry needling addresses a wide range of pain and dysfunction conditions
Treatment Approaches
Multiple dry needling techniques applied based on your condition
Trigger Point Dry Needling
Needles inserted precisely into active trigger points to elicit a local twitch response, immediately releasing muscle spasm and reducing referred pain.
Electrical Dry Needling
Electrical stimulation applied through the needles to enhance muscle relaxation, increase blood flow, and accelerate tissue healing.
Deep Tissue Needling
Needles guided to deeper muscle layers inaccessible by hands, targeting root-cause tension in large postural muscles like the gluteus and paraspinals.
Periosteal Pecking
Needling technique near bone surfaces to stimulate tissue healing, reduce inflammation at tendon insertions and enthesopathy sites.
Your Treatment Journey
Safe, systematic, and results-focused from start to finish
Screening & Assessment 30โ45 min
Medical history review, contraindication check, and trigger point mapping. We identify all active trigger points and explain exactly what to expect during treatment.
Needling Session 30โ45 min each
Fine sterile needles are inserted into trigger points. You may feel a brief local twitch sensation โ this confirms the needle is in the right spot and signals muscle release.
Post-Needling Care Included
Heat therapy and light stretching after needling to maximise muscle relaxation and reduce the mild soreness that can occur in the first 24 hours.
Corrective Exercises Between sessions
Specific exercises to retrain the muscle and prevent trigger points from reforming. Accessible through your patient portal with demonstration videos.
Maintenance Plan Ongoing support
Once acute trigger points are resolved, we set up a maintenance schedule (monthly or as needed) to keep you pain-free and performing at your best.
Expected Outcomes
Fast, measurable relief for stubborn muscle pain
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you should know before your dry needling session
No. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine meridian theory. Dry needling is rooted in Western anatomy and neuroscience, targeting specific trigger points within dysfunctional muscle tissue identified through clinical assessment.
Needle insertion feels like a tiny pinch. The local twitch response (a brief muscle cramp) is the key moment โ it's intense for a split second but quickly subsides. Most patients find it very tolerable and report relief immediately after.
Mild muscle soreness (similar to post-workout soreness) is common for 12โ24 hours. Drinking water, light movement, and applying heat helps. Most patients feel significantly better by the next day.
Most people need 3โ6 sessions depending on the number and severity of trigger points. Many experience significant relief after just 1โ2 sessions. We reassess after every 3 sessions.
Contraindications include needle phobia, pregnancy (certain areas), blood-thinning medications, compromised immune system, or active skin infection at the treatment site. All are screened during the initial assessment.
